Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani has said that he will soon coordinate with the central government to formulate solutions to address the low price of cow milk in the market.
Muzani conveyed the statement while meeting cattle farmers in Pesanggrahan Village, Batu City, East Java, on Thursday.
“The determination on the policy to address your complaints is actually the executive branch’s authority. I am in the legislative branch, but we, as the legislative, can influence the government to issue policies to address this problem,” he stated.
He informed that he will carry out coordination with the central government because the policies for handling this problem are under the executive’s authority.
He added that in addition to discussing this problem with the executive branch or the central government, he will also coordinate with the House of Representatives (DPR) members.
He said he expects that after the coordination is carried out, the central government will send officials to the field to determine solutions for milk prices, which are currently considered too low.
In addition, Muzani said that President Prabowo Subianto’s administration has a work plan for poverty alleviation across Indonesia.
One of the concrete programs for poverty alleviation is the implementation of Government Regulation No. 47 on the Write-off of Bad Debts for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in agriculture, plantation, and animal husbandry, among other sectors.
“This is proof that President Prabowo really uses his power for the benefit of the people,” he said.
The policy reflects the government’s commitment to always side with the people, he added.
“The main goal of President Prabowo issuing the policy is to eliminate poverty in Indonesia,” Muzani added.
