Prabowo G20 debut reflects RI role in global diplomacy: ISESS

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto’s debut at the G20 Summit in Brazil underlined Indonesia’s position as a main actor in global diplomacy, according to the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISESS).

Observer and co-founder of ISESS, Khairul Fahmi, said here on Friday that Prabowo’s presence at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro demonstrated Indonesia’s role as a key actor in global diplomacy in an increasingly complex world.

“By utilizing real politics and soft power, Prabowo has positioned Indonesia as a key actor in an increasingly complex world,” he added.

Prabowo’s debut at the G20 Brazil Summit shows that Indonesia, under his leadership, is committed to playing a bigger role in solving global challenges, he observed.

The challenges, he said, are food security, poverty, world peace, and economic diplomacy, which have also become the main issues in Indonesia’s foreign policy directions.

Prabowo attended the G20 meet not only as the new leader of Indonesia, but also to help devise strategic steps to solve major problems affecting mankind, a commitment he conveyed in his speech and during his meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Fahmi highlighted.

In addition, while participating in bilateral meetings with other world leaders, Prabowo not only spotlighted Indonesia’s domestic issues, but also offered concrete solutions to global challenges such as food security, climate change, and world peace.

“Indonesia is trying to play a bigger role in solving world problems while maintaining its national identity and interests,” he said.

Prabowo’s diplomatic steps are considered “pragmatic and bold” as he is not only putting national interests first, but also contributing to solving global issues.

Indonesia, with its firm and inclusive foreign policy, is considered to be ready to play a greater role in the world. Its success will depend on its consistency in implementing fair, sustainable, and inclusive policies.
