On Saturday, November 16th, around 11 p.m., a robbery was reported at a convenience store located in the Bacalar neighborhood of Valladolid, just behind a gas station at the exit to the Mérida highway, and less than 100 meters from the Public Security Directorate.
According to unofficial versions, two subjects would have participated in the incident, arriving at the scene in a car parked in front of the store to facilitate their escape to Mérida along the federal highway.
However, the official version indicates that only one individual entered the establishment.
Armed with a knife, the assailant intimidated an employee, making her to hand over the money from the cash register.
The employee agreed to avoid being hurt and the criminal fled the scene without causing injuries.
The official version indicates that the assailant only demanded the money, threatening the employee with a knife.
The employee handed over approximately 1,700 pesos (US$85), and the individual left the scene on foot.
Authorities suspect that it could be a local thief who lives in the area.
Since October 2024, when the Morena party took over the state government, armed robberies, which were previously very rare in the state of Yucatan, have become more and more frequent.
